Obviously from the title you’ve already derived that this story is about perhaps the hottest fashion revival in the past 10 years.
THE CHOKER IS BACK WITH A FUCKING BANG.
Being a 90’s baby, a choker was considered a pretty day-to-day accessory and no look was complete without it. So you can only imagine my glee when I came across one while I was fingering through some racks at Brandy Melville. I am happy to report that as of right now, I am the proud owner of 15 chokers. And I love them all. And I would wear them all at the same time if my neck was long enough. I decided to choose 4 of my top chokers from my personal collection to share with you all so you too can choke on this(trend).
Ranging from solid-colored (black. duh) 1″ chokers to very Dracula-esque thicker options, I am a happy 90’s kid. They were a necessity for me and they still are. The lariat choker is a new take on the trend as you can decide the end look- whether you want a proper bow or longer, uneven ends for a more unkept look. I found that I fancied gray/lavender chokers more over other colored options. A gray choker is an excellent option to turn the trend into something a lot more graceful and sophisticated. The prices ranged from $11-$30 from various retailers such as The Latest Scoop (Gastown), Oak + Fort, Brandy Melville, Hollywood Boutique, and Brandy Melville.

A thicker, wider choker gives off a more dominatrix/Dracula vibe and is a great accessory to style an off-shoulder look with. Thin 1″ chokers remind of Cinderella and that is why I have 5 of them.

All of them are of incredible quality and they always get complimented on whether I’m on the train to work or sitting in a meeting. As great as those stretchy, plastic chokers were/are, they have been revamped for the best. From velvet to lace to felt, all different fabrications give off a different feel to them and completely change the vibe of your outfit. Lace chokers add romance, thicker chokers add edge, and slimmer choker add that je nai sais quoi which everyone adores. In the world of chokers, there is something for everybody to choke on.
Stay tuned for a full collection post on how I style my chokers in late November!
